Camp letter 1

Welcome to Tammileiri!

We’re thrilled that you’ve signed up for the Jungle Adventure! In June more than 1,800 Scouts will be adventuring through the Ahtela jungle with Toka and Tahma. Tammileiri: Jungle Adventure is already the nineteenth Tammileiri camp.

This is the first camp letter sent to every participant. From now on you will receive all messages by email like this. You’ll also receive the Finnish version, as our system automatically sends it to all participants. The English translations will be provided separately.

Greetings from the Camp Leaders

We’re so excited that you are joining the Jungle Adventure with Toka and Tahma! During the camp, we’ll spend four fun-filled days exploring and solving all kinds of jungle mysteries. You’ll have the chance to learn lots of new camping skills and, hopefully, make unforgettable memories that will last for many years to come.

Both Toka and Tahma — and we, the camp leaders — are already eagerly looking forward to the camp. It’ll be wonderful to see both old and new friends and to meet all the cheerful Cub Scouts.

Thank you for being part of the adventure! See you soon at Tammileiri!

Character Introduction

At Tammileiri, you’re sure to run into the camp mascots, Toka and Tahma.
Toka is an energetic and adventurous leopard that just can’t sit still. Even though its name means “second” in Finnish, it’s usually the first to arrive and always ready for a new escapade. Toka’s favorite spot in the jungle is the branch of a big tree, where it can watch the other animals or take a nap in the warm sunshine!
Tahma on the other hand, is a wise and thoughtful snow leopard that carefully thinks things through before taking action. Its name comes from the Finnish word Tahmatassu (“Sticky Paw”), because it can be a little clumsy at times. Tahma loves waterfalls and cooling off on hot days.

Traveling to the Camp

Participants will travel to the camp with group transportation organized by their own local Scout group. You will receive more details about the journey from your group’s contact person. The camp organization aims to provide bus schedules to the Scout groups in early April, so please be patient while waiting for this information.

Next camp letter

In addition, each participant will receive a camper’s book at the camp. It will include the daily schedule and practical tips for camp life.
